PvZ Lawn Best Defense: Beginner Builds That Hold the Lawn
You do not need pro reflexes to clear the demo. You need a formation. These three builds hold every level in the game when executed with a working economy.
Build 1: The Standard (day levels)
Back two columns: sunflowers. Next column: peashooters. Front: wall-nuts in the two busiest lanes. This is the formation the game wants you to discover, and it clears the first eight day levels with room to spare. Pair it with our sun economy guide and you will never feel broke.
Build 2: The Control (tough day waves)
Swap the peashooter column for snow peas. Slowed zombies take double the punishment from everything else, which matters when coneheads and bucketheads arrive. Add a repeater in your strongest lane as the finisher. Our shooter comparison explains the tradeoffs.
Build 3: The Night Shift (night levels)
Sun-shrooms replace sunflowers, puff-shrooms fill gaps for free, and fume-shrooms become the damage core behind wall-nuts. Full details in the night level guide.
Builds are not the whole game
A formation is a starting point; waves demand adaptation. Learn the full plant roster so you know what to swap in, and if you are curious how the demo stacks up overall, our comparison with the classic formula puts it in context.
