Real gameplay captures

Screenshots

Published by the developer on the official game page. These are real in-game shots of the lawn grid, plant roster, and night levels, not mockups.

☘ Fresh sprouts

What's New in v1.0.0

First public demo. This build is the debut release: 13 levels (10 day, 3 night) and a roster of 11 plants, all wrapped in the developer's stylized art direction.
Night mode included. The last three levels switch to night: sun stops falling from the sky, gravestones eat up planting tiles, and the mushroom lineup finally earns its keep.
Bonus minigames. Wall-nut bowling and a conveyor-belt level break up the standard lane defense, just like the classics the game salutes.
Known quirks. Players report the shovel can also clear gravestones on night levels, and seed selection can feel clunky on smaller screens. Both are on the community wishlist for the next build.

☘ Field notes

What Is PvZ Lawn?

PvZ Lawn is a fan-made tower defense game for Android, created by solo developer Slv_Rbz and released as a free demo on itch.io. It takes the lane defense structure everyone knows, five rows, waves of zombies, sun as currency, and rebuilds it with an original adult-styled cast. The plants and zombies are reimagined as stylized adult characters, which is why the game is strictly 18+.

The demo is a genuine slice of a bigger project: a 13-level campaign with an economy to manage, a roster to learn, and night rules that flip your strategy. It is not a reskin of the original game and it is not affiliated with PopCap or EA in any way. If you came looking for the family-friendly classic, this is a different lawn entirely.

Standout Features

What the demo actually puts in your hands.

Classic lane defense

Five rows, seed packets, sun economy, and escalating zombie waves. The core loop will feel instantly familiar to tower defense players.

13-level demo campaign

Ten day levels that teach the roster, then three night levels that change the rules with gravestones and mushroom-only economies.

11-plant roster

From Peashooter to Fume-shroom, each plant has a defined battlefield job. Learning the roster is half the strategy.

Bonus minigames

Wall-nut bowling and a conveyor-belt level appear as palate cleansers between campaign stages.

Fully offline

The APK requests zero permissions and needs no connection. Once installed, it is a self-contained game.

Free download

Released as name-your-own-price on the developer's page. The build hosted here costs nothing.

Under the hood the game runs on the Godot engine, which keeps it light for a 3D-styled 2D game and explains the modest system requirements. Touch controls are the whole interface: tap a seed packet, tap a tile, and manage your sun while the waves roll in.

☘ Plant roster

Meet the 11 Demo Plants

Every plant in the demo, with the job it was designed to do. Costs and roles below come from in-game observation.

Sunflower

Sun economy

Your income engine. Plant two columns early on day levels and your economy runs itself.

Peashooter

Basic attacker

Cheap, reliable single-lane damage. The backbone of every early level.

Snow Pea

Slowing attacker

Chills zombies to slow their march. Pairs beautifully with heavy hitters behind it.

Repeater

Double damage

Fires two peas per cycle. Expensive, but it doubles a lane's damage output.

Wall-nut

Defender

A tough blocker that buys time. Shows visible damage as it takes hits.

Potato Mine

Trap

Needs a moment to arm, then detonates on contact. Perfect for surprise rushes.

Cherry Bomb

Area nuke

Wipes a 3x3 zone after a short fuse. Save it for emergencies, not routine waves.

Chomper

Melee devourer

Eats the zombie in front of it, then chews for a while. High risk, high reward.

Puff-shroom

Free night attacker

Costs nothing and fires short-range spores. Night-level filler that actually pulls weight.

Sun-shroom

Night economy

The night-shift sunflower. Starts small and grows into a bigger sun producer.

Fume-shroom

Piercing attacker

Sprays fumes through screen doors and multiple zombies. A night-level star.

The guides section below breaks down costs, synergies, and which plants to prioritize as the demo unlocks them.

☘ Lawn map

The 13 Demo Levels

Day levels 1 to 10. The campaign opens gently: one lane, a few plants, and zombies that walk in a straight line. By the mid-day levels you are juggling five lanes, coneheads, and bucketheads, with wall-nut bowling and the conveyor-belt stage mixed in to keep things fresh.

Night levels 1 to 3. The sky stops dropping sun, gravestones occupy random tiles, and your economy leans on sun-shrooms and puff-shrooms. Fume-shrooms shine here, spraying through screen-door zombies that would stall a pea-only lineup.

What is missing. This is a demo, so expect a compact campaign rather than an endless mode. The developer's page frames it as the first slice of a larger game, and the community is actively voting on what comes next.

☘ Our take

If you love the lane defense loop and are an adult, the demo is a faithful, charming take on it. If you want the family classic, stick with the original.

The comparison matters because the two games share DNA but serve different audiences. PvZ Lawn borrows the structure, sun economy, seed packets, lawn mowers, night rules, and rebuilds the cast and art from scratch. The comparison below covers where the demo innovates and where it still has growing to do.

☘ Do not get lost

A Quick Clarification

There is a similarly named browser-only game floating around the web. It is a different product: it runs in a browser, has no Android app, and is unrelated to Slv_Rbz's demo. If you are looking for the installable Android game with 13 levels and 11 plants, you are in the right place, and the file on our download page is the real APK.

☘ Adults only

Adults Only: Please Read

This game is strictly for adults (18+). The plant and zombie characters are stylized as adult characters, and the developer labels the game accordingly on the official page. If you are under 18, this is not your game.

What the adult content actually is. The mature content lives in the character art. The gameplay itself is classic tower defense: planting, sun management, and wave survival. There are no explicit scenes in the demo; players asking for more should know the current build keeps things at the art level.

File safety. The APK hosted here was scanned for malware, requests zero permissions, and works fully offline, so it cannot send your data anywhere. One antivirus false positive has been reported for this package on third-party scanners; the signature matches the developer release.

☘ Planting guide

Get It Running in Minutes

Sideloading takes about two minutes. These steps are written for current Android versions.

  1. 1. Grab the file from our download page. Head to the download page, wait out the short countdown, and tap the download button. Check that the finished file is about 116.3 MB; a smaller file means the download got cut off.

  2. 2. Clear out any older copy first. If you tried another PvZ Lawn build before, uninstall it. Two builds signed differently will refuse to install over each other, and this is the most common install failure we see.

  3. 3. Open the APK and approve the install. Tap the downloaded file. Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser (the “install unknown apps” permission). This is a one-time toggle, and it only applies to the app you install from.

  4. 4. Confirm the install and launch. Tap Install, wait a few seconds, then open the game. It needs a 64-bit phone (arm64) on Android 7.0 or newer; 32-bit devices will show a parse error at this step.

  5. 5. Play offline, permission-free. The game asks for nothing: no accounts, no location, no storage access. You can even switch on airplane mode; the whole demo runs locally.

☘ Clean soil

Permissions and Privacy

Zero permissions requested. We pulled the manifest from the v1.0.0 APK: it declares no dangerous permissions at all. No contacts, no location, no storage, no network state.

Fully offline by design. Because it requests nothing and phones home to nothing, the game cannot collect or transmit your data. That makes it one of the most privacy-clean Android games we have tested: there is simply no channel for data to leave the device.

The safety section on the download page documents the scan results, the signature check, and the false-positive report in detail.

☘ Weighing it up

The Honest Take

Sunshine

  • +Faithful lane defense loop with real strategic depth
  • +Charming original art and a clear creative vision
  • +Generous 13-level demo for a free download
  • +Zero permissions, fully offline, privacy-clean
  • +Night levels and minigames keep the demo varied

Shade

  • −Strictly 18+; not for the classic game's audience
  • −Demo only: no endless mode or late-game content yet
  • −Minor quirks (shovel clearing graves, clunky seed select)
  • −64-bit only; older 32-bit phones cannot run it
  • −Adult content is art-level so far, which some players did not expect

Bottom line: as a free demo of a solo developer's passion project, PvZ Lawn punches above its weight. The strategy is real, the presentation is confident, and the price is right. Just know what it is, an adult fan game demo, and what it is not, a finished full-length game.

☘ Garden first aid

When Something Wilts: Quick Fixes

The demo is stable, but these are the issues players actually hit, with the fix that works for each.

Install fails with 'app not installed'

Uninstall any older PvZ Lawn copy first, then reinstall fresh. Conflicting signatures cause most failures.

Black screen on launch

Your phone must be 64-bit on Android 7.0+. On 32-bit devices the game cannot start.

Seed packets feel unresponsive

Tap deliberately instead of double-tapping; rapid taps queue conflicting placements on small screens.

Cannot plant on a night tile

Gravestones occupy tiles. Clear them with the shovel, which currently removes graves too.

For anything beyond these quick fixes, the guides section carries a full fix library for installs and crashes.
